CTHRC Seeks Freshwater Angling Guides and Hunting Guides for National Occupational Standards Review
Are you a Freshwater Angling Guide or a Hunting Guide? Maybe both? We’d like to hear from you! The CTHRC is currently seeking participants to help us review the Freshwater Angling Guide and Hunting Guide emerit National Occupational Standards (NOS). The NOS documents represent the knowledge and skills required to be competent in these occupations. In 2002, a group of experienced industry members from across Canada reviewed and updated the current NOS. It can be downloaded free at www.emerit.ca. These standards now need to be reviewed to ensure that they still represent an accurate picture of what Freshwater Angling Guides and Hunting Guides actually do.
In November 2009, the CTHRC - in collaboration with provincial and territorial tourism human resources organizations and industry experts - launched a project to conduct norm referencing research. The purpose of this research is to gather information and aid in developing a framework that expands upon the depth and scope of the skills, knowledge, and competencies related to both occupations.
The CTHRC and our partners understand and appreciate the importance of having these standards reflect the needs and wants of the industry, and therefore feel it is crucial to have experts in these occupations participate in our research. Your commitment would involve completing a 20-minute online survey that will allow you to comment on, verify, and validate information about the occupation and industry. The survey is available in both official languages and can be accessed through the links below. The surveys are available until January 2, 2010.
If you have any questions regarding the survey or your participation, please contact Tanya Sadler, Project Manager for Development, at email@example.com.
