German University Endorses emerit Event Mangement - International Competency Standards (EMICS)

hdpk Hochschule der populären Künste will use EMICS for curriculum development and assessment criteria

The CTHRC’s industry-led emerit Event Management – International Competency Standards project (EMICS) is being implemented by educational institutions all across the globe. The Queen Margaret University of Scotland was one of the first post-secondary institutions in the world to officially accept and endorse EMICS and educators at the Art Institute of Vancouver have successfully integrated the Standards into their curriculum.

Most recently, EMICS has been reviewed and endorsed by the hdpk Hochschule der populären Künste. This private university of Applied Sciences, which is based in Berlin, is devoted to training and research in creative industries. The EMICS standards have been adopted for curriculum development and assessment criteria at the Bachelor level.

“After reviewing various standards of German, European, and international scope, the EMICS standard meets and in some cases further qualifies these standards in scope and depth,” says Ulrich Wünsch, founding dean of hdpk Hochschule der populären Künste. “We are pleased to officially endorse EMICS.”

The EMICS standards are a valuable tool for individuals, businesses, and educational institutions. The standards provide an international benchmark that can be used to measure current practices and to guide personal, professional, and curriculum development. The standards were developed and endorsed by international Event Management professionals and served as the foundation for the emerit Certified Event Management Professional (CEMPtm) designation, which will be launched to the public in 2011.
