East Coast Properties Receive National Recognition for Their Dedication to Training and Human Resource Development

Ottawa, Ontario – October 24, 2006 - The Great George and the Delta Barrington / Delta Halifax received the CTHRC/emerit Award for Excellence in Human Resources during a gala celebrating Canada's Tourism Leadership Summit 2006 at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper, Alberta on October 23, 2006. The awards honouring excellence in tourism human resources were part of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s National Awards for Tourism Excellence presented by the Globe and Mail at Canada’s Tourism Leadership Summit 2006.

The Delta Barrington / Delta Halifax won in the multiple-unit business category that requires a business be operating in more than one location. The Great George boutique hotel in Charlottetown P.E.I. won the single-unit business category. “Both have demonstrated a commitment to professionalism in the Canadian tourism workforce through professional recognition, training and excellence in human resource management. They have achieved enhanced results through dedication to training and HR development,” said Wendy Swedlove, President of CTHRC. Finalists for the CTHRC/emerit awards included The Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park in North Vancouver, The Super 8 Motel Winnipeg South, and Tourism British Columbia.
